I need to know if 2 AC units will overload a small window wiring houses? We have 2 brand new units of the window ac bought at Walmart. 1 is a little more for a room 250sq feet and the other is a little bigger. My father is a fit to pitch because he thinks that the fact both connected to overload the electrical wiring. Can someone tell me yes or no so I can get him to calm down?
Please provide more information. Such as power units, at the age of the house, and if the units will be in the same room or on the same circuit.
If the units are on two different circuits (breakers), I doubt that they overload the wiring of the house, regardless of the age of the house.
(To determine if the premises are on two separate circuits, you can manually turn off the circuit (one at a time) at the cut until you identify, both houses are on the same circuit or if they are on separate circuits. If the House has power when the other chamber can not they are on separate circuits and circuit breakers. Also please remember to cut the important things in these rooms before off switches such as computers:) Also, you need to reset your clock:))
If the house is so old that it "could" be possible to overload a circuit breaker if the two units were on the same circuit.
If you have the type of circuit breakers are reset, so I see no harm in trying to run both units. If you have any types of fuses which have a filament that burns, then make sure you have a couple on hand before you try.
Please remember that most of the new AC units are very energy efficient and do not consume as much electricity as older use too.
