MarketplaceVentilating NeedlePosted on February 21, 2010. I'm afraid of needles, and get an IV. Some tips to calm myself? I'm so afraid of needles. I hyper-ventilate when I have to take a picture. hold someones hand, listening to music, or start speaking much, as being like blah blah blahbhlblha blha it keeps your mind there, ask someone to talk to you so that you can have something else to concentrate. and tell them not to tell you when they do it if your not anticipate. I had my adnoids also removed, and the IV, I found it useful if I pinched my arm or leg or something, just so I could be distracted from the pain of the needle . You do not count down nurse! Just take a few breaths and stay calm, it will be over in a few seconds. It's not as bad as you think it will. Personally, I thought the worst was to remove the tape after surgery because of small hairs on the back of my hand lol. Perhaps listening to your iPod while the nurse is done, it can help. Try to keep the conversation light and funny so you will not feel pain. Hey, I know exactly how you feel. I hate needles too big time. I really freak when they come to me with the cannula, the thrill. considering referred They do not harm that much. However, they may take a little time to put in. Every time I had one, right away I can feel a rush of warm medication. I hate it too .. but when I look at when shes gonna poke me I'm so scared ... So I found a new way ... Just turn the other way and bring ipod .. heart to listen and make u do look at what the nurse is doin ... it'll be over in 1 min Just do not watch and listen to music or you can press the other hand really well oh and to the arm of the needle is truly like losing a noodle I'm the same way just close your eyes and try to listen to music and I always had the nurse count to 3 so I would know when they are hold ur breath and think of something reaaaaaaaaaaaalllly Nice CommentsThere are no comments.Leave a Comment | Popular Articles External Links |
