MarketplaceShampoo YogaPosted on April 5, 2011. How to make a new yoga mat more sticky? I just got a new yoga mat. the mark is tapas. My yoga Teah told me to wash with shampoo to make it more sticky, less slippery. I did it, but it is still slippery. It is supposed to be a good mat, not cheap. Anyone have advice to make it less slippery? Many yoga mat slippery but the coating will eventually wear out from frequent use and frequent washing. Make sure you do not use moisturizing shampoo, otherwise get more slippery. Use any soap or detergent which has no air conditioners or moisturizers them to strip coating dries. You may have to wash more than once (make sure not to soak the carpet for too long, otherwise it will take longer to dry). I just bought a new yoga mat and could not use it due to the smoothness. I wiped it with rubbing alcohol to reduce the oil and left out for a day the smell of alcohol to go. Now it is usable Flag I always have problems with my sticky mat because my hands and feet sweat. Found that my only solution is to use a towel between carpet and my skin. You can buy rugs large sized towels specially designed for (some of them come with rubber points on one side to prevent him from moving on the carpet), or just a regular towel works too.
