OphiasisHow contagious is Alopecia Areata: Ophiasis? and are they capable of spreading to others?

How contagious? 0.0%

Any type of alopecia areata (totalis, universalis, ophiasis, etc.) was completely contained within the body of a person and not contagious to all. It is impossible to extend it to others.

I have had alopecia since I was 11 months. I had universalis for about 15-16 years. Nobody around me has ever obtained. My (and all those who have alopecia) my white blood cells attack hair follicles from within, causing them to become irritated and hair loss. It's something that you inform your body cells do. Thus, even if I donate blood and give it to you, would still not alopecia because your body would also have to tell your blood cells to attack hair follicles.

Alopecia is similar to diabetes, arthritis and vitiligo, because they are all considered "autoimmune" means that the body attacks itself somehow.

Hopefully it clears up!
