Hi, this is your Mini Speaking In New York, Chicago and Miami owner of New and Used Mini are opening a new gadget panel display custom messages on the side of the road.
An embedded radio chip in the key fob sends a coded signal to the display as you approach and messages flag, depending on the information the driver provided a questionnaire. Examples: 'Hi Kate a great day for your gig.
There have been complaints that do not activate key fobs Mini to within ten feet of the car, which makes them a bit useless. However, it is suspected that the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag is responsible for the signal from a sensor that sends the route information of the owner of the display.
This technology is not new. It has been used for some time in the implants identification of livestock and animals as well as items such as card access control.
The manufacturers have invested in labels with RFID technology to track products as and through the supply chain, but is it not open the option of following the MINI owners and their activities?
Mini said that it will not happen and that no sensitive personal information is kept in the tags. Is it possible for hackers to enter this information and edit messages sent to something totally inappropriate? No different than any other advertising displayed digitally.
So what is the idea of this? Is this just a trick to Mini drivers? I doubt that any company is going to plow these kinds of costs established in such an adventure just to entertain existing clients.
It is more likely that this is just another form of advertising. But is it good? Mini In typical style, they like to run they are advertising campaigns to show everyone that Mini owners have a better time for everyone. To see a personal display message is intended to show everyone that Mini owners are special.
However, with all the publicity surrounding the danger of mobile phone use while driving, it is safer to read a personal message instead of a text message? Is this a good advertisement for the drivers of other vehicles which are then naturally to find the nearest Mini to see what Kate, "" Bill "or" Tara "looks like?
It is argued that these signs are not more annoying than road signs. People read the road signs of all times, without causing a problem, but they are usually warning or directional signs. Is not it a personalized message a little different?
Maybe this would make the Mini drivers, and other, less attentive to what is happening around them if they are watching their name to come under the spotlight.
And if you were stopped in traffic? Apparently, 3 different custom messages would be flashed over a period of time before the display panel returns to its usual level of advertising. Right now, everyone knows the name of the driver of Mini, and if he / she is irresponsible conduct at least you can customize your insults!
If more than one Mini is in the neighborhood, then resume the nearest display the owners, change to the next after 10 seconds. Does this make a potential jealous rage?
If this is purely gimmicky advertising to non-drivers Mini, is it fair to play on an ego Mini owners to do the job as a car of quality must be by itself? Is it fair to charge the owners for their Mini advertising?
Of the 150,000 used Mini Mini and the new owners in the United States, 1,000 have already subscribed to this service messaging. Mini intends to monitor the response to this campaign over the past three months. The government has already done and intend to publish their findings on this subject very soon.
