How to clean a pool filter cartridge A swimming pool clean filter is key to having a sparkling clean pool all year. Neglecting the pool filters will result in constant struggles with the pool and could cause many other costly problems. Here are the basics of cleaning a cartridge filter pool swimming.
Turn off the pool equipment - off the main breaker to pool equipment or circuit breaker to pool equipment, if necessary, but make sure the pool equipment will not start while the filter cartridge is out
Relieve system pressure - to open the relief valve on the main filter to release any system pressure.
Drain water filter cartridge - Unscrew and remove the drain plug on the filter to completely empty the water filter.
Open the filter housing - once all the water is drained and the pressure released from the filter, carefully open the filter housing.
Remove dirty filter filters - Remove dirty filter cartridges filter housing.
Clean the filter cartridge (s) - using a gun with high pressure nozzle on the hose, spray elements cartridge down until much dirt and debris as possible is removed and the water is clear. For best results, work up and down and spraying filter cartridges at an angle of 45 degrees.
Clean the filter housing - spray the filter to remove dust or debris. Make sure the O-ring is clean to get a good seal and tight when the filter is reassembled.
Insert the clean filter cartridges - carefully re-install the clean filter cartridges in a manner opposite to that which they have been removed.
Close and secure the filter.
Restart the pool equipment - equipment for the rehabilitation of the pool, let the pressure relief valve open until the air has been purged from the filter.
Note the pressure - once the filter is working again, make a note on the pressure gauge. When the pressures 10psi, it's time to clean the filter cartridge.
The establishment and adherence to a routine cleaning schedule for the pool filter cartridge is half the battle when it comes to a pool clean and sparkling.
