Hot LocksLocking CD / DVD to protect children against

Imagine is a summer evening. You're sitting at your computer at home and playing Solitaire or any other computer game that you like. After some time you decide to relax. When you return to the room, you find your child play with CD, DVD or Blu-ray PC drive. Of course, DVD is a device rather fragile, and it is very easy to ventilate. Soon you discover that it's easier than you might imagine. After purchasing a new optical disc drive to start looking for the solution that can help you lock the device and prevents your child from playing with it.

Although there are a number of freeware utilities designed to lock the CD / DVDs, is the most advanced and comfortable to use not free. Before writing this article, I tested three different freeware utilities (I will not name to avoid offending their developers) and decided to buy the pay. The first of these freeware utilities refused to run under Windows Vista, the second can lock a single DVD drive installed on my computer two, and the third removed the lock from the computer to wake from sleep. I decided to pay a little more and get the utility running Windows Vista, together with any amount of CD / DVDs and providing reliable protection for these devices.

The utility I liked most is called CD-Door Guard. It is easy to find here: http://www.mwcs.com . You can download the trial version that will run for 10 days after installation. The price of CD-Door Guard is $ 15 per license. I suppose that this purchase is a good investment because you save about $ 50 on each disc you can protect the use. This is not an advertisement, I speak as a buyer satisfied with this software.

What you get for your money? CD-Door Guard is 10 times more features than any other free utility. tray automatically closes the CD / DVD after a while if you forget to do so, it supports function keys to open or close the drive tray. The disk utility even remember forgotten in the drive when you turn off the computer or switch it goes into standby mode. You can choose different settings for each installed drive for optical discs. For users of portable CD-Door Guard provides locking DVD Windows enters sleep mode. Now when you press the button on the DVD, it does not open and you do not crash. DVD player can also be locked when Windows starts. You can customize "sound effects" and to make CD-Door Guard beeps when it locks and unlocks the DVD. The only drawback is that the sound of the CD-Door Guard is similar to the sound played by my antivirus program when it detects malicious software. So I had to disable this option in the CD-Door Guard.

The main drawback of CD-Door Guard is a great number of different switches in the options window. I was a bit confused when I saw them for the first time. But after studying them carefully, you discover that all these switches are useful in different cases. CD-Door Guard supports different languages: it is useful for users whose native language is not English. If you do not speak only English, you can create translation CD-Door Guard and receive a registration key without having to pay money.

As mentioned above, I am a user of CD-Door Guard, and I can tell that this utility does 100% of what it is supposed to do. I can not rate CD-Door Guard with the highest mark. It is simply the best utility, you can choose to avoid the crash of CD / DVD.
