Boar Bristle Brush

Or is it just ruin the hair? I have heard is bad for brushing hair .. Is this true? And if it is acceptable to use a bristle brush .. I noticed that the brushes that claim to be 100% boar bristles are different. Some have "stronger" bristles another brush .. then what is best for hair? brush bristles firm or softer?
