Air Conditioner Condenser

Posted on February 20, 2010.
Air Conditioner CondenserThe cold air escapes from the water pump which is connected to our air conditioning condenser.?

Our compressor is outside and the condenser is in our basement. The condensate has a pump attached that pumps water to the outside where it drains.

There is an extra hose coming out of the pump that has cold air blowing on it when the air conditioner is running. I guess this is an emergency release valve, but is it normal to be cold air streaming on this subject? It seems we lose a lot of cold air in our beautiful cellar!

The drain hose goes into the condensate pump is supposed to have a trap on him to prevent air from leaving the area of the fan through the drain. I guess you do not.

I've never seen a second pipe like that. I guess it was added to fix the fact that the air blast was pouring water from the pump. They have treated the symptom and not the cause.

And it could be a trap, even if it is the cons-line pressure is still high enough to blow air through the trap. It is a bigger problem to deal with other than ensuring that all vents are open for your.

Good Luck.
